BEAM HOUSE

BEAM

/biːm/

1. a long, sturdy piece of squared timber or metal used to support the roof or floor of a building.

2.a ray or shaft of light.

In 2023 Penna embarked upon the process of redesigning and extending the ground floor flat of this Victorian property in South London, towards the rear garden and side return. Constrained by a compact plot and the presence of several other freeholders the design introduces a roof scape punctuated by apertures allowing natural southern light to penetrate into the spaces below. This reimagining of the existing space ensure a family centric, functional abode.
