In 2021, Penna Architects were commissioned by their clients to renovate a Victorian penthouse apartment. The brief emphasised the importance of designing each room to evoke the experience of being transported to a distinct time or place. From the outset, it became evident that an unconventional approach would be necessary to meet the couple's needs. Rather than maintaining a consistent design aesthetic throughout, the team opted to celebrate contrasts. They amplified the juxtaposition of periods and influences, employing a playful and occasionally whimsical approach to details and design language.
