Penna worked closely with the clients, a Swedish couple, to realise their dream of transforming a derelict farm house into a retreat in the hills of Lake Como. With its illustrious backdrop and mature gardens providing a key reference point, the design and drew heavily on a collaborative process to best utilise the ingenuity and practical skills of the client. This provided a platform for a organic and fluid construction phase resulting in an unmistakably bespoke feel, further accentuated by the use of both locally sourced materials and skilled craftsmen to produce a spacious and elegant home, which fits seamlessly into the landscape.
